Mount Whitney, the tallest peak in the contiguous United States, is located within the ancestral lands of the Paiute (Nüümü) and Western Mono (Monache) peoples. These groups have lived in and around the Owens Valley and Sierra Nevada region for thousands of years. Ladies Weekend Out acknowledges that Mount Whitney and the areas we will be traveling through on this trip, make up the homelands of the Paiute, Mono and Shoshone people.
